Welcome to BattleReps

Welcome to the battlerep blog, as the name suggest this blog was created to share battle reports of games of warhammer fantasy and of warhammer 40k.

I'll try to post as many Battle reps as possible, of games that I play or games that I see.
If you are into wargaming and want to contribute to this blog just send me an e-mail with your battle reports to: battlereps@gmail.com

The report must contain the following:

- Name of the opposing armies
- Number of points of each army
- Number of turns
- Movements each turn
- Final result (outcome)

The report may contain:

- Fluff behind the battle (why the battle took place / small background history of the armies / etc...)
- Army lists
- Pictures of the armies / turns
- Diagram showing troop movement

You should also include your nickname so I can post who sent the report.

Bretonnia vs. Dwarfs - 500 Point Battle

So once again the hosts of Bretonnia march to war against the Dwarfs.
This 500 point battle takes place in a forgotten land with some ruins of a settlement.
Both races have their own purposes on this cursed land. The Dwarfs are out seeking for ancient artifacts and hidden treasures. While the Bretonnians are scouting the region looking for more land for their kingdom to expand.

Set up

The bretonnia forces have deployed their bowmen on the hill on the right side of the table, to their left on the open ground stand the Bretonnian knights, two regiments of four, one lead by a paladin and the other one led by the damsel.

The Dwarf was set near the ruined buildings. 10 thunderers stood behind a ruined manor, to their left the Engineer had ordered the Bolt Thrower crew to set the war machine on the hill next to a ruined house. Between the house and the manor stood the warriors led by their Thane.

Turn 1 - Bretonnia

Bretonnia has the first turn which they use to pray.

Turn 1 - Dwarfs

As the enemy didn't move the thunderers took the chance and entered the building looking for higher ground to get better shots.
All units were out of range, except the bolt thrower, which opened fire on the knights. But they missed their targets.

Turn 2 - Bretonnia

Now protected by the blessing of the lady the Knights rode forward at full speed towards the Dwarfen line.
The bowmen on top of the hill opened fire on the Bolt Thrower. Out of ten shots two hit their target (1 warmachine, 1 crew). The strength of the attack was no match for the Dwarfen warmachines, the crew on the other hand was a different story and the Dwarf was wounded, good thing I rolled a six on the armor saving dice saving the crewman from certain doom.

Turn 2 - Dwarfs

The Warriors let by the Thane stood their ground, waiting to see what the enemy would do.
From the top of the hill the Bolt Thrower opened fire on the nearest knights but the missed (again) from higher ground the Thunderers opened fire on the same unit, killing four of the Knights, leaving just the paladin alive.

Turn 3 - Bretonnia

Despite their losses the knights kept on moving forward, and the Paladin rushed to join them.
From the top of the hill the bowmen kept on opening fire on the Dwarven lines.

Turn 3 - Dwarfs

This time the dwarven thunderers had no clear targets so only the Bolt Thrower opened fire this turn, wounding two of the Bowmen on the top of the hill.
The Miners entered the battlefield this turn through my left side of the table.

Turn 4 - Bretonnia

The Knights now led by the Paladin kept on pushing forward hoping to flank the Dwarf warriors.
Up on the hill the Bowmen once again opened fire on the Dwarfen line but this time they missed their targets.

Turn 4 - Dwarfs

Seeing the Paladin's plan the Thane led his warriors forward, hoping to get a nice rear charge on the knights.
Up in the building some of the Thunderer's now had a clear shot at the knights. Five Thunderers took a shot, they all hit, three wounded but one of the Knights faith in the Lady was such that he kept on fighting.
On the hill the Bolt Thrower opened fire once again against the Bowmen, killing another two.
Both Bretonnian units had to test for panic, the Knights easily passed the test but the Peasants weren't so brave and begun to flee.

Turn 5 - Bretonnia

The first thing to do was to rally the fleeing troops, with a mighty roar the Palladin made himself heard across the battlefield and the Peasants rallied.
The Peasants moved forward to get better shots at the Dwarfs.
The Knights also moved forward to avoid the Dwarf charge.
Finally the Peasants shot their bows at the warriors, killing two of them.

Turn 5 - Dwarfs

Seeing the Knights moving out of reach the Thane moved his warriors back to their original position.
The miners remained in their position to clam e that table quarter.
On the hill the bolt thrower opened fire on the archers trying to avenge the fallen, and once again the huge bolt impaled two more peasants causing them to panic and flee.
The thunderers opened fire on the knights once more, killing another one of the proud knights, and making them test for panic once more, a test which they once again passed.

Turn 6 - Bretonnia

Final turn for the Bretonnians. Little could be done, the Peasants tried to rally but it was of no use and they kept on running, the knights moved to cover to avoid another fusillade from the thunderers.
Finally the lady used all of her power dice to cast a spell on the Peasants, which I failed to dispel, causing them to auto-rally.

Turn 6 - Dwarfs

Not much left to be done neither. the thunderers couldn't shoot anyone, no one moved and only the bolt thrower was able to fire at the knights, but the crew was already too drunk hit hit their target.

Final result - Victory by massacre to the Dwarfs.

This week

I have two games scheduled for this week. A 2250 point game for this Wednesday against Vampire Counts and a 500 point games against Bretonnia on Friday.
I hope all goes according to plan and my tactics work out like they have so far. I might have a third game against Dwarfs, but that remains to be seen.

The hardest match might be the Vampire Counts one as the player is already experienced so he makes fewer mistakes. The magic phase will be a pain, lots of things to be dispelled, good thing the Dwarfs have a natural resilience against magic.
As for the Bretonnia game, not much to say, last time it was a Slaughter lets see what happens this time round, after all new players can be unpredictable.

So that's all for now, hopefully there will be at least to battle reports up this week, so stay tuned.
